The assignment could last a month or extend the entire school year, as coverage is needed due to the current interpreter’s unforeseen absence.
Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational environments
- National or state credentials/certifications, if applicable
- Comfort working with high school-aged students
- Adaptable to both in-person and virtual assignments
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct interpreting services for a 9th grade student in academic and extracurricular settings
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers
- Maintain accurate and confidential records as needed
- Collaborate with educational staff to support the student’s success
