Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and fluent interpreting skills
- Previous experience working with DHH students in an educational environment preferred
- Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter or meeting state qualifications
- Ability to build rapport and facilitate communication between students and staff
- Strong sense of confidentiality, professionalism, and commitment to student success
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site interpretation for a single DHH student throughout the school day (8:00am - 2:00pm), totaling 30 hours per week
- Support classroom instruction, group activities, and individual communications in real time using ASL
- Work collaboratively with teachers, educational staff, and the student to ensure educational goals are met
- Adapt interpreting techniques to meet the student’s individual needs, supporting both academic and social inclusion
- Maintain up-to-date records on services provided, as needed
