Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter
- EIPA score of 4.0 (performance and written) required and must be listed on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry – Dept. of Health)
- RID and NIC certifications also accepted, provided the written component is on file
- Experience working with high school-aged students preferred
- Compliance with district-specific fingerprinting and drug screening in addition to agency credentialing
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide professional sign language interpretation for high school students, educators, and staff members in educational settings
- Facilitate clear communication in classrooms, assemblies, and special education meetings
- Support students’ participation in all school-related activities as assigned
- Collaborate with educational teams to maximize student engagement and learning
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical standards of the interpreting profession
