This full-time contract role offers an engaging environment serving a diverse student population from elementary to high school. You'll report to the Student Support Unit Coordinator and play a vital role in providing direct IEP-driven instruction, supporting classroom teachers, and facilitating the integration of hearing-impaired learners into mainstream educational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver IEP-based educational services for hearing-impaired students, adapting resources and teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
- Collaborate with regular education teachers, providing consultation and support in curriculum preparation, assessment, and classroom adaptation.
- Advocate for and request auditory equipment and instructional materials tailored for students with hearing impairments.
- Conduct in-service training for school personnel, fostering an environment that welcomes and supports hearing-impaired students.
- Troubleshoot and maintain specialized equipment such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, sound field systems, and assistive listening devices.
- Maintain clear communication with parents and faculty, including documentation through IEPs, progress notes, and quarterly reports.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Coordinator of Speech, Hearing, and Autism.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and Louisiana teacher certification specializing in Hearing Impaired Education.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching hearing-impaired students in general education settings.
- Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in sign language and technology relevant to hearing support.
- Strong organizational skills for managing records, data entry, and reporting.
- Ability to foster inclusion and collaboration across diverse teams.
- Must meet district credentialing requirements, including fingerprinting and drug screening.
