An exciting opportunity is available for passionate Sign Language Interpreters seeking to make an impact in educational settings. This full-time, contract position spans the 2025-2026 school year and offers the chance to support students aged 5-12 in classrooms designed for Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) and General Education. As an Educational Interpreter, you will facilitate communication and inclusion for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students and others with diverse needs across three school sites.
What You'll Bring:
- Current EIPA score of 4.0 or RID certification required
- Experience in educational interpreting preferred—new graduates with proper credentials are welcome
- Skill in American Sign Language (ASL) and knowledge of interpreting within school environments
- Ability to adjust communication methods for students with a range of abilities and backgrounds
- Collaborative mindset to partner with other on-site professionals
Your Role:
- Interpret classroom instruction and communication for DHH students in a variety of settings, including both SAI and general education classrooms
- Work closely with special education teams, teachers, and other support staff
- Provide interpretation for school events, meetings, and extracurricular activities as needed
- Support inclusion and equal access to curriculum and activities
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling student information
- Serve as a language model and advocate for students as appropriate
Position Details:
- Full-time, 6.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday
- Academic year: August 19, 2025 – June 5, 2026
- Three openings available across three sites
- Caseload features students with DHH and a variety of other learning needs
- Support from other on-site disciplines for a collaborative experience
