Qualifications and Skills:
- ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher required
- Experience working in schools as a 1:1 interpreter preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong knowledge of interpreting ethics and protocols
- Ability to adapt communication style to meet individual student needs
- Comfortable collaborating with educators, staff, and families to support student learning
- Reliable, punctual, and organized with excellent interpersonal skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver real-time, accurate sign language interpretation for 1:1 student support in classroom and school environments
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers in both academic and social settings
- Assist in adapting instructional materials and classroom participation as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards at all times
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) discussions
- Provide feedback to education staff on student progress and interpreting needs
