Key Qualifications:
- Demonstrated proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) for educational settings
- Experience supporting students in elementary, middle, or high school environments preferred
- Skilled in American Sign Language (ASL) and capable of interpreting in a variety of classroom subjects
- Ability to obtain or maintain appropriate SLI credentials for educational interpreting
- Understanding of communication methods for non-verbal or limited-verbal students is a strong asset
- Strong commitment to professionalism, confidentiality, and collaboration with educational teams
- Minimum 0-3 years of relevant experience required; increased responsibilities and compensation considered with 4+ years of interpreting experience
Role Highlights:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students and staff on site at least four days per week
- Provide communication access and support during classroom instruction, activities, and special events
- Collaborate with teachers, educational diagnosticians, and support staff to ensure students' needs are met
- Assist in augmentative and alternative communication measures for students with no/limited verbal skills
- Support students’ IEPs and contribute to evaluation processes
