Qualifications & Skills:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings (0-3 years, 4-6 years, or 7+ years of experience valued)
- SLI credentials or equivalent required
- Ability to facilitate communication for students with varied needs, including non-verbal and limited-communication learners
- High level of professionalism, flexibility, and cultural competence
- Commitment to supporting student evaluations and development
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction and student interactions, ensuring clear communication for all parties
- Collaborate with special education and multidisciplinary teams to support SAILS and STEPs programs
- Assist in the assessment and evaluation process for students requiring support
- Adapt interpreting techniques for different learning modalities and individual needs
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere within the school environment
