Desired Qualifications:
- Certification or proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
- Ability to interpret in educational environments
- Prior experience (0-3+ years; relevant experience considered at all levels)
- Familiarity with diverse student populations, especially those who are non-verbal or have limited communication skills
- Strong commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical guidelines
- Ability to support evaluations and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for students within classroom and school settings
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Support instruction and evaluation in both one-on-one and group contexts
- Work in programs dedicated to inclusive communication support (e.g., SAILS, STEPs)
- Offer hands-on assistance to students with complex communication needs
- Adapt communication methods as needed to support student understanding and participation
