What you bring:
- Current proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)
- Experience working in school or educational settings (0-3+ years welcomed)
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture and inclusive communication strategies
- Familiarity supporting students with a range of disabilities, including those requiring evaluation for support programs
- Dependable attendance and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to adapt to a growing and evolving program
Your day-to-day responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpretation for students in classroom and school settings
- Facilitate effective communication between students, staff, and other service providers
- Support individual and group instruction, ensuring accessibility during lessons and evaluations
- Contribute expertise during multidisciplinary meetings regarding student needs and program development
- Document and relay relevant observations to assist in student assessment and progress planning
- Advocate for equitable access, adapting to varied communication styles and educational goals
