In this role, you’ll work closely with the Coordinator of Speech, Hearing, and Autism in the Student Support Unit, providing crucial instructional services for hearing-impaired students. Your expertise will help maximize students' learning potential through individualized educational planning and engaged classroom integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver IEP-directed educational services to hearing-impaired students across regular and resource settings.
- Consult with classroom teachers to adapt teaching materials and assessments for student needs.
- Facilitate and identify ongoing service needs in mainstream and specialized education environments.
- Request and troubleshoot specialized auditory equipment and materials.
- Lead in-service training and foster positive school experiences for hearing-impaired students.
- Maintain regular progress communications through IEP documentation, progress notes, and quarterly reports.
- Uphold confidentiality and perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and Louisiana teacher’s certification in Hearing Impaired required.
- Minimum of three years’ experience supporting hearing-impaired students in educational settings.
- Strong sign language skills, technology troubleshooting abilities, and a collaborative leadership style.
- Exceptional communication, analytical thinking, and time management skills.
- Able to work with diverse school personnel, families, and students.
- Completion of fingerprinting and drug screening prior to assignment.
