Key Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) at an interpreting level
- Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, ideally in a school or pediatric environment
- Comfortable working 1:1 with students from Pre-Kindergarten through Middle School
- Strong understanding of students’ educational and developmental needs
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student goals
- Professionalism, adaptability, and a passion for supporting young learners
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective interpretation between spoken English and ASL for assigned students in classrooms and various school activities
- Facilitate accessible communication during instructional time, activities, and interactions with peers and staff
- Support students’ social, behavioral, and academic development
- Work closely with educational teams to adapt to changing needs and ensure consistent support
- Maintain confidentiality and follow all relevant school policies and procedures
- Contribute insights and observations to the education team as needed
