Qualifications & Experience:
- Certification or demonstrated competency in sign language interpretation
- Proficiency in literary and Nemeth Braille transcription
- Familiarity with K-12 educational settings and student support services
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities, particularly in diverse teams
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Previous experience in an educational setting is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpreting for students, supporting educational and extracurricular activities
- Transcribe and produce instructional materials in Braille as needed, including tests, handouts, and textbooks
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support staff to modify and adapt classroom content for accessibility
- Monitor and advocate for student needs during instructional periods
- Contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings when necessary, offering insight into appropriate accommodations
