Educational Sign Language Interpreter - Vaughn, Washington

Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation, with prior experience in school settings highly valued
- Skilled in producing Braille-transcribed educational materials
- Strong understanding of accessibility needs for students with visual and/or hearing impairments
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and support staff
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Professional certification or relevant credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter and/or Braillist preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide in-class and event-based sign language interpretation, ensuring clear communication between staff, students, and peers
- Translate educational materials into braille and support student use of braille resources
- Monitor and support student learning progress, providing feedback and suggestions to instructional teams
- Assist with accessibility planning and resource development for classrooms
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all laws and district guidelines related to student privacy and information
- Serve as an advocate for students’ communication and access needs
