Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Current licensure as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Demonstrated experience in a pediatric or school setting, preferably one-on-one with students
- Minimum ASLPI (American Sign Language Proficiency Interview) score of 4.1 or higher
- Familiarity with educational protocols and the needs of pediatric learners
- Compassion, patience, and excellent interpersonal communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a 1:1 interpreter, facilitating clear and accurate communication between students who are Deaf or hard of hearing and their educators and peers
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and special education staff to adjust interpreting approaches as needed for student success
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions within the school environment
- Adapt to the evolving needs of the student and participate in IEP meetings, when required
- Support a positive, inclusive, and accessible learning atmosphere
