Bring your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter to a dynamic educational environment supporting young learners from Pre-K through middle school. You will work one-on-one with pediatric students, interpreting for various grade levels including Kindergarten, Pre-School, Elementary (K-5), and Middle School. Your skills will foster inclusion and support each student’s educational journey.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a school-based Sign Language Interpreter (preferred)
- Background in 1:1 pediatric interpreting (required)
- Familiarity with elementary and middle school settings
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families
- Professional certification or relevant credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and clear interpretation services for students in classroom, small-group, and individual settings
- Facilitate communication between students, peers, and educators using ASL and other communication strategies
- Adapt interpreting style to meet individual student needs from Pre-K through Middle School
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards in all interactions
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure consistent and supportive educational access
- Engage positively with students, fostering a welcoming and inclusive learning environment
