Qualifications & Skills:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational or pediatric settings
- Understanding of kindergarten, elementary, and middle school learning environments
- Experience providing 1:1 interpretation for students
- Ability to adapt interpreting techniques for a diverse age range (Pre-K, Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle School)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with teachers and school staff
- Relevant certification or licensure for interpreting in a school or pediatric setting
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 ASL interpretation for students and facilitate classroom communication
- Adapt signing and interpreting style to suit each student's age and developmental level
- Foster an inclusive environment in collaboration with teachers and educational staff
- Support academic and social activities, encouraging full participation for assigned students
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with school protocol
- Contribute to Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings and student support processes
