Pediatric Grades K - 5 Sign Language Interpreter in Oroville, CA

Make a positive impact supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter, working 1:1 with pediatric learners from Pre-K through Middle School. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with students, facilitating communication and accessibility across a range of grade levels including Kindergarten and Grades K-5. You’ll play a vital role in supporting educational access for young learners, helping them fully participate in classroom activities and interactions.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification or credentials as a Sign Language Interpreter (up-to-date and in compliance with state requirements)
- Experience working with pediatric populations, preferably in an educational or school-based setting
- Comfortable interpreting for a diverse age range (Pre-K through Middle School)
- Strong understanding of educational terminology and classroom protocols
- Ability to adapt to varying student needs and communication styles
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with educators, students, and families
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing sign language interpretation services for a designated student in a school setting
- Facilitating communication between the student, peers, and teaching staff in both classroom and extracurricular settings
- Supporting access to curriculum, classroom discussion, school events, and daily routines
- Collaborating with educational teams to ensure the student’s needs are met
- Adjusting interpreting approaches to suit individual learning styles and grade levels
- Maintaining accurate documentation as required by the school
