Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
- Eligibility for, or possession of, a Professional Educator License (PEL) specific for interpreting in schools
- Strong command of expressive and receptive American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to interpret in a classroom and school community setting
- Adaptability and teamwork skills for working alongside educators and support staff
- Previous experience with DHH students at the middle school level is preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpreting services for DHH students in mainstream and specialized classroom settings
- Accurately facilitate communication between staff, students, and families using ASL and other appropriate methods
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and specialists to ensure access to curriculum and school activities
- Support language development and comprehension as part of the educational team
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions
