Embark on a meaningful contract role supporting students as a skilled Educational Sign Language Interpreter near Melrose, FL. As an essential part of a school-based team, you’ll help bridge communication between Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing students and their peers, faculty, and staff for the duration of the academic year. This part-time position begins in September 2026 and continues through the end of the school year.
Qualifications:
- Hold current credentials or certification as an Educational Sign Language Interpreter
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience interpreting within educational settings is highly valued
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, support staff, and students
- Demonstrated professionalism, timeliness, and dedication to inclusivity
Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, student interactions, assemblies, and extracurricular activities
- Adapt language level and interpreting methods to meet each student’s needs
- Support IEP goals for students on caseload while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity
- Foster an equitable, accessible environment where Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing students can thrive
- Consult with teachers and staff to ensure effective communication strategies are in place
