Qualifications:
- Valid and current Educational Sign Language Interpreter credentials/certification as required by state regulations
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and strong interpretation skills in educational settings
- Previous experience working in schools or with children preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Collaborative mindset and outstanding interpersonal communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken instruction and classroom communication into sign language for students
- Work one-on-one or with small groups as indicated by each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- Cooperate closely with teachers, staff, and families to support student learning goals
- Assist in modifying or adapting materials as needed to meet the unique needs of each student
- Help foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom atmosphere
