Key Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language and experienced in educational interpreting
- EIPA score of 4.0 and corresponding written assessment required
- Listed on the Louisiana Interpreter Registry (LCDC Interpreter Registry - Dept. of Health); alternatively, RID or NIC certification plus the written assessment accepted
- Previous experience working with high school-aged students is highly valued
- Completion of district-required fingerprinting and drug screening, alongside general credentialing prerequisites
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Position Details:
- Full-time, 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, aligned with the school district calendar
- Caseload will primarily focus on high school students; number of schools and student assignments to be determined
- Serve as a vital resource ensuring equitable access to classroom instruction and school activities
- Collaborate with educators and school staff to adapt communication solutions for diverse student needs
- Adhere to professional standards of confidentiality and ethical practice
- Maintain accurate interpreting logs and documentation as required
