Bring your expertise in sign language to a dynamic role supporting students in an educational setting near Naperville, IL. This full-time contract position runs from ASAP through the end of the current school year. Work Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch, directly impacting the learning experiences of students who require sign language interpretation—especially for a student who may have behavioral needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Experience working in schools or educational environments is preferred
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to manage and support students with behavioral challenges
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Adaptability and patience to work in a school setting
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation during classroom activities, school events, and one-on-one interactions
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, teachers, and peers
- Assist with classroom participation, ensuring the student has access to all educational content
- Support student engagement and encourage positive behaviors
- Collaborate closely with staff to develop strategies for supporting the student’s unique needs
- Participate in team meetings as needed to discuss the student’s progress
- Implement and follow plans specific to the behavioral and educational needs of the student
