Step into a fulfilling role supporting students as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting, available immediately through the end of the school year. You’ll provide vital communication access and classroom support for a student, working alongside dedicated educators and specialists. Your expertise in sign language and your passion for helping others will make a meaningful difference every single day.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language with strong interpreting skills
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
- Ability to work effectively with students, including those exhibiting behavioral challenges
- Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to collaborate with staff, students, and families
- Commitment to maintaining a supportive and respectful environment
- Relevant certifications or credentials as required by state or national standards
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken communication into sign language and vice versa to facilitate classroom participation
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the assigned student
- Support the student in both academic and social settings throughout the school day
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and other professionals to support individual education plans
- Assist with behavioral management as directed, while promoting positive behavioral supports
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical standards at all times
Role Details:
- Full-time, contract position
- Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break)
- Position begins ASAP and runs through the conclusion of the school year
