Key Qualifications:
- Proficient in American Sign Language with previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings
- EIPA score of 3.5 or higher with active Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Approval;
EIPA of 3.0-3.4 considered with ISBE Interim Approval - Alternative credentials (BEI or NIC) welcomed with ISBE Approval
- Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
- Must be available to work onsite only
Role & Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent sign language interpretation services for high school students (9th–12th grades), supporting both classroom and school activities
- Arrange interpretation for individual students and small groups—caseload typically consists of roughly 12 students, with one student per class needing services
- Collaborate with special education teams, teachers, and support staff to foster a fully inclusive learning atmosphere
- Participate in institute days and ongoing school trainings
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and advocate for access and equity in school routines
Schedules Available:
- Full-time: Monday–Friday, 8am–3:30pm, split between two high school locations
- Part-time: Monday–Friday, 8am–12:00pm, based at one high school
