Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) | Plainfield, Illinois

Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 3.0 or higher required
- Applied for or currently hold an active Professional Educator License (PEL) to interpret in schools
- Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) and interpreting best practices
- Experience supporting children in educational settings preferred
- Collaborative, professional, and reliable demeanor
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time sign language interpretation for a designated elementary student in a mainstream classroom
- Foster clear communication between the student, peers, and teaching staff
- Adjust interpreting techniques based on age, subject matter, and unique student needs
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards
- Work in partnership with teachers and school staff to promote the student’s learning and participation
