Sign Language Interpreter in Round Lake, IL

Full-time interpreters will collaborate with staff and students at two engaging campuses from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, working with a K-12 caseload. If you prefer a part-time role, you'll join the Grayslake North High School community from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm, focusing on high school students (grades 9-12). Each interpreter will support an individualized student caseload, providing essential access to learning and social engagement for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
Key Qualifications:
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5 with ISBE Approval required, or EIPA score of 3.0–3.4 accepted with interim Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Interim Approval
- BEI or NIC credential holders accepted with ISBE Approval
- Prior experience in a school setting is highly valued
- Demonstrated professionalism and ability to collaborate with educational teams
- Commitment to confidentiality and upholding ethical standards
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality sign language interpreting services for individual students or small groups within classroom and school activities
- Foster student participation in both academic and campus life
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, and other interpreters to ensure seamless access to content
- Adapt interpreting techniques to accommodate varied classroom environments and student needs
This on-site position offers an engaging and supportive atmosphere, with a manageable caseload and the opportunity to build relationships that truly matter. The assignment begins in August 2026 with training and concludes in May 2027.
