What you’ll bring to this position:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Recommended EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
  • Previous experience working in K-12 educational settings, particularly at the elementary level, preferred
  • Familiarity with interpreting in classroom, small-group, and one-on-one situations
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with educators, students, and support staff
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to school policies

What you’ll do:

  • Interpret classroom lessons, discussions, and school communications for an elementary student who is deaf or hard of hearing
  • Collaborate with instructional staff to ensure the student’s participation in both academic and extracurricular activities
  • Assist with clarification and comprehension, fostering the student's independence and social engagement
  • Adapt interpreting services to meet the changing needs of the student and classroom environment
  • Maintain accurate records and collaborate with support and related service teams
