Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and experience in educational interpreting
- Prior background as a Sign Language Interpreter or American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher preferred
- Familiarity with working with young students and self-contained classroom settings
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student success
- National or state certification in interpreting services a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear and accurate sign language interpretation throughout the school day for a profoundly deaf kindergarten student
- Facilitate communication between the student, classroom teacher, peers, and other school staff
- Support classroom participation by interpreting lessons, discussions, and classroom activities
- Assist with both academic and social situations to ensure the student’s full integration into the school environment
- Work closely with the educational team to create an inclusive, supportive experience for the student
