On a daily basis, you will interpret classroom instruction and help bridge communication between the student, peers, and educators, supporting academic success and full participation in school life.
Qualifications:
- Hold one or more of the following credentials/certifications:
- Oklahoma Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST)
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID)
- Training and Assessment Systems for K-12 Educational Interpreters (TASK 12)
- Experience or specialized training in educational interpreting, preferably at the high school level
- Strong command of American Sign Language and familiarity with Deaf culture
- Professionalism, reliability, and clear communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one American Sign Language interpretation for a high school student throughout the school day
- Accurately convey spoken language to ASL and vice versa during lessons, group work, and school events
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to ensure the student’s access to curriculum and participation in all activities
- Maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and student-centered support
