Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Completion of an Interpreter Training Program is required
- Washington State law (as of 2023) mandates an EIPA assessment score of 4.0 or higher—or hold valid RID certification
- Ability to pass fingerprinting, WSP and FBI background check, and sexual misconduct clearance
- Valid Washington State driver’s license or reliable evidence of mobility
- Previous school-based interpreting experience is preferred
- Skilled in providing age-appropriate interpretation for younger students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation for elementary students during all classroom and school activities
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to facilitate accessible instruction
- Aid students’ participation in both academic and extra-curricular activities as needed
- Work onsite during student days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 9:00am-3:30pm, Wednesday 10:00am-3:30pm, with potential for additional hours supporting extra-curricular events
- Maintain student confidentiality and uphold ethical standards at all times
