Grades 9 - 12 Grades 6 - 8 ASL Interpreter | Bothell, Washington
Make a positive impact in the classroom by supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for grades K-12. This contract opportunity, conveniently located near Bothell, WA, offers the chance to work closely with students and educators throughout the academic year, providing critical access to education through American Sign Language. This is an immediate start position through the end of the school year.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in ASL or Educational Interpreting
- Current EIPA, RID, and NIC certifications
- Prior experience interpreting in K-12 educational settings preferred
- Ability to effectively support students ranging from kindergarten to high school
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Familiarity with IEPs and educational accommodations for DHH students a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide ASL interpretation for one or more students within general and special education settings
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment through clear, accurate communication
- Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and administration
- Adapt interpreting style to suit varying grade levels, subjects, and student needs
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards
This role requires a commitment of 30+ hours per week during standard school hours, Monday through Friday.
