An exciting contract opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support a 5th-grade student in a general education classroom setting. This full-time assignment will run from September 10th, 2026, through May 26th, 2027, and will be located at a welcoming elementary school near Acworth, GA. The position is designed for someone passionate about providing accessible education, with hours from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active GaPSC Sign Language Interpreter Educator Certification
- District fingerprint clearance required before starting
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school environment is highly preferred
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment
- Ability to work effectively 1:1 with students and collaborate with classroom staff
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpretation for a designated 5th-grade student throughout the school day
- Facilitate clear communication between the student, peers, and faculty within a general education classroom
- Adapt interpreting methods to suit varying communication needs in real-time
- Support the student’s participation and engagement during all classroom activities
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
