Qualifications and Experience:
- EIPA score of 4.0 or higher (required)
- Prior experience as a sign language interpreter in educational settings, especially with children
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, teachers, and families
- Reliable, professional, and adaptable to evolving student needs
- Current credentials and ability to work on-site
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalized, 1:1 sign language interpreting services for an elementary-aged student throughout the school day
- Facilitate communication between the student, teachers, classmates, and staff to support full participation in classroom activities
- Adapt interpreting methods to fit a variety of learning and classroom environments
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions
- Assist with student integration, ensuring access to both academic and social opportunities
- Participate in meetings and collaborate with the educational team to support student progress
This role is ideal for an interpreter passionate about fostering accessible learning and making a daily difference in a student’s academic journey. In-person presence is required to create a conducive, immersive experience for the student.
