Sign Language Interpreter in Bluffton, SC

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026–2027 school year. Four positions are available to work within an engaging educational environment, beginning in early August and concluding in late May. Assignments will take place at one of several campuses in South Carolina.
You’ll serve 37.5 hours each week, helping to facilitate effective communication and ensure accessible learning for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Work settings may include high schools, middle schools, or K-8 academies, selected based on individual strengths and school needs. This position allows you to directly empower students and foster inclusive classrooms.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Sign Language Interpreter
- Minimum EIPA score of 3.5
- Proficiency in both expressive and receptive sign language skills
- Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred
- Professionalism and ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and families
- Adaptability to age-appropriate communication styles and various classroom situations
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time in-person interpretation for students across academic, social, and extracurricular contexts
- Partner with teachers and special education staff to address language accessibility needs
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical boundaries at all times
- Accurately relay classroom instruction, discussions, and activities
- Support IEP goals by ensuring clear information exchange
- Contribute to a supportive atmosphere for learners of diverse backgrounds
This position offers consistent full-time weekday hours within supportive school communities. Assignments begin August 3, 2026, and conclude May 28, 2027, with placements made at one of several area schools based on organizational needs.
