This role calls for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter dedicated to fostering accessible learning environments. You’ll work primarily in-person, engaging with students during school hours and potentially assisting with extracurricular activities as needed.
What we’re seeking:
- Completion of an Interpreter Training Program
- Valid and current RID certification and/or EIPA assessment score of 4.0 or above (per Washington State law, as of 2023)
- Successful WSP/FBI fingerprint and background checks, as well as sexual misconduct clearance
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License or proof of reliable mobility
- Previous experience in school-based settings preferred
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing high-quality sign language interpretation for elementary students in classroom and school settings
- Facilitating clear communication between students, staff, and peers to ensure access to curriculum and school activities
- Supporting students during regular school hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00am to 3:30pm; Wednesday from 10:00am to 3:30pm
- Participating in educational team meetings and professional development as assigned
- Offering interpretation services for extracurricular events as needed
