Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter! In this contract role, you’ll work closely with students across grades K-12, focusing on 1:1 support for high schoolers near Broken Arrow, OK. Opportunities include a full-time schedule (35 to 37.5 hours, Monday through Friday) or a part-time assignment working with a high school student with severe and profound needs (Monday, Thursday, and Friday). The part-time position involves accompanying the student to a nearby building—just under a mile from the high school—for additional educational support, generally from 8:40 AM to 4:15 PM.
Qualifications and Experience:
- EIPA Score of 4.0 or higher OR current RID/NAD Certification
- Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST) Level III or better
- Minimum of 2 years of experience providing sign language interpretation (preferred)
- Ability to work collaboratively with educational staff and respond to the individual needs of students
- Comfort supporting all grade levels, K-12
- Professionalism and adaptability in dynamic school settings
- Reliable transportation—especially for travel between buildings as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster communication access for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing through accurate and meaningful interpreting
- Support students in classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, and transitions between environments
- Adapt interpreting styles to meet individualized student needs, including those with severe and profound disabilities
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and support staff to enhance learning outcomes
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and professional standards in all student interactions
