Make a meaningful impact supporting students by providing sign language interpretation services in an engaging school environment. Two unique opportunities are available: one is full-time, working one-on-one with a high school student during regular school hours, and the other is part-time, assisting a student with significant needs three days a week. For the part-time position, occasional short travel to a nearby building (less than a mile away) will be required, always in support of the same student. Both roles allow you to make a direct difference in students’ access and success.
Key Qualifications:
- EIPA score of 4.0+ or RID/NAD certification is required
- Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST) Level III or higher
- At least 2 years of experience as a sign language interpreter, ideally in educational settings
- Ability to work with students across K-12, but especially grades 6–12
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and adaptability
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Willingness to support students in both academic and life skills environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one interpreting services for high school students, ensuring full access to classroom instruction and school activities
- Accurately interpret spoken language to American Sign Language and vice versa
- Accompany students to different classrooms and, occasionally, to a secondary location for specialized instruction
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to foster an inclusive learning atmosphere
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to best practices in educational interpreting
- Use technology to support communication, as required
