Take your expertise in sign language interpreting to a meaningful setting supporting students across elementary, middle, and high school grades. This contract position offers the chance to work closely with dedicated educators and make a direct impact in the lives of students who depend on clear, accessible communication every day.
In this role, you’ll work either full-time or part-time. The full-time opportunity involves one-on-one support for a high school student, Monday through Friday, totaling 35 to 37.5 hours per week. Alternatively, you may work part-time, supporting a high school student with severe and profound needs three days a week—Monday, Thursday, and Friday. This assignment requires traveling with the student to another nearby building to ensure consistent communication access. The typical schedule runs from 8:40 AM to approximately 4:15 PM.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Current EIPA score of 4.0 or higher, or RID/NAD certification
- Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST) Level III or above
- Minimum two years of sign language interpreting (Preferred)
- Comfortable working one-on-one with students in Grades K–12
- Experience supporting students with a wide range of abilities, including severe and profound needs
- Adaptable and professional communication skills in school settings
- Ability to travel short distances on campus with a student
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation to ensure full participation in classroom activities and interactions
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers
- Support students during transitions and activities across campus buildings
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times
- Collaborate with educational staff to meet each student’s unique needs
