Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong skills in interpreting American Sign Language (ASL) in real time.
- Familiarity with classroom settings and educational terminology.
- Certification or training in ASL interpretation; Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score preferred.
- Adept at adapting communication style and pace to meet diverse student needs.
- Professional, dependable, and collaborative approach to working with both students and teachers.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately interpret spoken communication and classroom instruction to ASL and vice versa.
- Facilitate clear communication between students, educators, and staff.
- Partner with teachers to prepare for upcoming lessons or events.
- Assist students in understanding assignments, instructions, and class discussions.
- Uphold confidentiality and maintain professionalism in all situations.
