Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), with proven fluency and interpreting skills
- Previous experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in educational settings is highly valued
- Familiarity with classroom environments and educational terminology
- Ability to facilitate clear, accurate, and effective communication between students, teachers, and staff
- Strong ethical standards and a high degree of professionalism
- Certification in interpreting (such as EIPA, RID, or equivalent) preferred
Role Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL and vice versa for students, teachers, and other school community members
- Support students’ participation in classroom discussions, assemblies, and school activities
- Collaborate with educators to ensure students’ access to curriculum and instructional materials
- Maintain confidential, professional relationships with students and school personnel
- Adapt interpreting methods as needed to support individual student needs
