- Current certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (such as EIPA or RID, or state equivalent)
- Previous experience interpreting in school settings preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to facilitating communication across diverse groups
- Ability to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with professionalism
- Flexibility in adapting communication styles for students of varying ages and abilities
Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into ASL (and vice versa) during classroom instruction, school events, and meetings
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and administrative staff to clarify information and ensure classroom success for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing
- Maintain accurate records of interpretive services provided, adhering to school protocols
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive educational experience through cultural sensitivity and advocacy
- Participate in professional development and ongoing training as required
