Seeking two dedicated Sign Language Interpreters to support elementary and high school students in a contract position (40 hours per week). You’ll facilitate communication and help cultivate an inclusive, supportive classroom environment.
Qualifications:
- Hold a minimum 3.5 EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score
- Eligible for the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) Educational Interpreter Certificate
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in a school environment highly valued
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and effective voicing/signing skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate interpretation and transliteration between spoken English and ASL for students, staff, and parents
- Support full participation of deaf or hard of hearing students in classroom activities
- Collaborate closely with teachers and support staff to ensure effective access to the curriculum
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational interpreting
- Contribute to IEP meetings and participate in ongoing professional development
- Adapt interpreting strategies to meet the unique needs of each student across varied academic settings
