Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Hold a current Georgia Department of Education (GA DOE) Sign Language Interpreter license (HR waiver not accepted)
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Prior experience working with students in school-based settings preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to inclusivity
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver accurate, real-time interpreting services for an assigned student in classroom and educational activities
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to ensure optimal learning outcomes and accessibility
- Support student participation during lessons, group activities, and assemblies
- Clarify any communication barriers and advocate for student needs
- Maintain records as required by the district and comply with school policies
- Foster a welcoming, respectful environment that promotes student engagement
