Play a vital role in fostering communication and inclusion for students of all ages as a Sign Language Interpreter within southern Oregon schools. This on-site contract position spans the entire 2026-2027 academic year, with multiple openings available to support a diverse K-12 caseload. Your expertise will ensure students receive the access and advocacy they need to thrive in their educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Possess current Oregon SLI Certification/Licensure (required)
- Proficient in American Sign Language and adept at interpreting in educational settings
- Experience supporting K-12 students (preferred)
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and families
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide sign language interpretation between students, staff, and the classroom community
- Facilitate effective communication and understanding during classroom activities, meetings, and school events
- Support both academic and social interactions to promote a fully inclusive experience
- Collaborate with educational teams to implement accommodations as outlined in IEPs or 504 plans
- Adapt interpreting methods to suit each student’s unique needs and communication preferences
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity at all times
