This full-time, onsite contract role spans from August 24, 2026, to June 11, 2027, serving school communities in Southern Oregon. Key Qualifications:
- Current Oregon Sign Language Interpreter Certification/Licensure is required
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably within K-12 schools
- Strong understanding of confidentiality, impartiality, and ethical standards as set by professional organizations
- Ability to adapt to varying grade levels and educational content
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school activities for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and other professionals to foster an inclusive environment
- Support students’ communication access across general and special education settings
- Assist with adapting instructional materials and responding to students’ language needs
- Maintain accurate records and provide input for educational planning as needed
- Participate in individualized education plan (IEP) meetings and team conferences
