Key Qualifications:
- Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification/licensure for Oregon
- Experience working in educational settings, particularly K-12
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with interpreting ethics
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities
- Proven reliability and ability to handle multiple site assignments if needed
- Commitment to professionalism and the needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpretation services in classrooms and school settings
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and families
- Adapt interpreting techniques to a wide age range, from kindergarteners to high school seniors
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct at all times
- Collaborate closely with special education and general education teams
- Participate in relevant meetings and trainings as required by the district
