Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language, with an ASLPI score of 4.1 or higher
- Demonstrated experience providing 1:1 interpreting services, preferably in schools or educational programs
- Familiarity with educational terminology and adapting modes of interpreting to various classroom subjects and activities
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset when engaging with students, teachers, and school staff
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and sensitivity in all interactions
- Open to candidates who are willing to travel and fully commit to an on-site, full-time schedule
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver clear, accurate sign language interpretation between students and staff in classroom and school settings
- Support students’ participation in lessons, assemblies, IEP meetings, and extracurricular activities as assigned
- Adapt interpreting style to meet the individual needs and communication preferences of students
- Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to ensure the student is fully included and supported
- Maintain detailed documentation and support a positive, respectful learning environment
