Desired Qualifications:
- Valid and current California SLI certification
- Experience as a sign language interpreter in school settings preferred
- Background in paraprofessional or special education roles a plus
- Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to effectively support students in middle school grades
- Excellent communication, empathy, and professionalism
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation for a middle school student across classes and activities
- Accurately interpret spoken language and signed communication between educators, staff, and the student
- Support the student's participation during lessons, discussions, and group work
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment within the classroom
- Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and school personnel to support the student’s individual learning goals
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards at all times
