Bring your experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher to help foster an inclusive and supportive environment. Collaborate closely with educators and service providers to ensure students have full access to classroom instruction and school activities.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Teacher, preferably in a school setting
- Understanding of educational terminology, classroom routines, and IEP implementation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to adapt interpretation styles to meet student needs and learning levels
- Relevant certifications (such as EIPA, RID, or state licensure) preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, confidential interpretation between students, staff, and peers using ASL and other communication modalities as needed
- Support classroom learning by translating lesson content, instructions, discussions, and school-related functions
- Facilitate communication during extracurricular activities and meetings to promote full participation
- Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to best support individual student goals
- Maintain professional boundaries and ethical standards in all interactions
