The position runs from approximately 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM each weekday, providing consistent and rewarding interaction with a caring student.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Certified and licensed Sign Language Interpreter
- Experience working in elementary school settings, ideally with younger children
- Ability to provide 1:1 interpreting services, adapting communication to the student’s evolving needs
- Strong skills in providing visual supports and utilizing creative strategies to foster new language acquisition
- Compassionate, patient, and skilled at building rapport with students unfamiliar with sign language
- Open to local and travel candidates; candidates from outside the immediate area are welcome to apply
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facilitate accurate and engaging communication for a kindergartner who is deaf and beginning sign language
